To install the new cables and housings, you cut the housings to size, which is something that the mechanic figures out when working on the bike. When you buy a brake cable set, you will probably get the inner cables (the metal parts) and the housing (plastic parts - lined with metal inside). That's the plastic part that the cable runs through. It sounds like you might have lost a piece of the casing. It's a British 3-speed bicycle so it should take modern brake cables that you can buy almost anywhere that sells bike parts. If you get a good one in original condition, it'll be a nice rider perfect for getting around town or just becoming an outlaw and escaping reality for awhile. Check yard sales, flea markets, Goodwill stores, eBay, your neighbor's garage/attic! Robin Hood bicycles and head badges from the 1960's aren't all that hard to find or expensive. And, I'm sure other boys, like we did, pretended their bikes were horses and they were Robin's band of merry men. What's interesting to me, is that one 1960's 3-speed was pretty much identical to the next - sturdy all-British-steel construction, Sturmey-Archer 3-speed gearing, stamped-steel sidepull brakes, 26 x 1/38-inch wheels and tires, fenders and a chainguard.īut by naming theirs after the famous bowman from Sherwood Forest, and affixing a wonderful head badge of Robin in his Lincoln green suit with Nottingham Castle in the background, and using Robin Hood-theme decals, Raleigh captured every boy's attention (surely lots of men's too), and made them think that riding a Robin Hood was a lot more fun than pedaling around on a no-name two-wheeler. You can also make out that the 1944 Robin Hood model was likely higher quality and built with different components than the later models imported to the USA that we rode. Click to enlarge it so you can see Robin in his boots and cap, and shouldering his bow and quiver). On the left is a 1944 Robin Hood bicycle ad from my collection. Having a leather quiver also provides you with a convenient way to transport your archery equipment.Ridley Scott's new hit movie, Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe makes me think of other Robin Hoods - The Adventures of Robin Hood TV series and the brilliant 1938 Michael Curtiz movie of the same name with Errol Flynn as Robin, that all we kids watched in the sixties.īut, even more interesting, it makes me think of the " English racer" 3-speed Robin Hood bicycles made by Raleigh, that some of us were lucky enough to ride at the time. The leather tube is designed to keep the fletchings and nocks safe and prevent damage that could cause erratic flight patterns or other problems. You can purchase quivers made of leather that are embossed with a variety of intricate designs or patterns. They are available in a variety of colors including black and light or dark brown. Leather quivers to hold arrows for your bow during archery practice come in different styles and sizes. What leather quivers for archery practice are available? Leather quivers are available in a variety of sizes and configurations to suit your needs. These quivers encase the body while leaving the feathered end of the shaft exposed so you can grab an arrow with one hand when you are ready to fire it from the bow. During this epic waste of time I stumbled upon a documentary (yes I use Netflix primarily to watch Docs.). This past week was Spring Break, and while many people were getting tan in some place warm, I was snowed in on a serious Netflix binge. Hey to all those who read my blog! Get ready for another exciting installment of my passion blog. If the video does not load you can find it on our Instagram. Here is a video of us playing an part of one of our originals. We currently have four songs completely written which is pretty cool to me. We have started a band called In Debt (get it because we are) you can follow us on Instagram We do a lot of covers but are slowly transitioning to original material. I have been fortunate enough to find a group of guys who share a similar interest in music with me and want to write original songs. Recently song writing has helped me cope with the transition of moving away from home. Like I got friend zoned a lot, fun fact I used to be fat just as an explanation. It gave me a creative outlet to handle being rejected by many, many… many women. Writing music helped me deal with the awkwardness of growing up. The lyrics were also terrible and will never see the light of day (thank God). my knowledge of music was limited to the basic open beginning chords which made it frustrating trying to emulate my favorite artists. It was, for lack of a better word a “bitch” to write. Being thirteen the only coping method I had other than listening to angsty punk rock was playing the guitar. This was really the first time that I had to fully comprehend death and witness what it does to the people around that person. I started writing shortly after one of my good friend’s mom died of cancer. The reason I am telling you this is because when ever I go through a trauma in my life, writing songs has always helped me through it. In fact, having your passion blog be about break ups might be the saddest passion blog ever. They suck, but that is not why you are reading this. So, I’ve recently have gone through the trauma of a break up. So, despite the very shallow reason for starting to play, I continue to play because I love it. When I play it is the only time I feel completely myself. No, matter how old I get my dream will always be to stand on stage and shred in-front of a roaring crowd. The power you feel from strumming a chord with the right tone, and the challenge of putting feel into each note to sound great is what keeps me playing. The adrenaline rush you get from just nailing a riff in-front of people is better than anything in the world. With that said, why do I play? The main reason I play isn’t working so, why do I? I play because I love to. Like I can’t really show up to a party with my guitar, I’ll be “that guy.” My best hope to impress girls at parties is if I’m in a band playing there, or the host of the party has one and I can convince him to let me show off. Now, I’m lucky if a girl swipes right on me because of the picture of me playing guitar rather than to win a Cardi B concert. Back then Slash and Eddy Van Halen could get any girl they wanted. First, the music scene today is much different than it was when my dad started playing. However a couple things have come to my attention. So, I think I have stated before that I started playing guitar to get girls. I will also miss the intense concentrated study of the scriptures. I felt like it was just kind of a mini celestial kingdom up there. I have the highest respect for them and I will miss those daily associations. We had an incredibly close relationship with the staff writers. Tad Callister: I think what I will miss the most is the relationships the relationships with my counselors, with the other auxiliaries that we interacted with, the staff writers. Trent Toone: What will you miss most about serving at Church headquarters? This interview has been edited for length and clarity. The mists of darkness may come and the unanswered questions may arise, but through it all you will have your iron rod to cling to - to keep you on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life."īrother Callister spoke in-depth about why he wrote A Case for the Book of Mormon and answered other questions related to his life and church service and in a recent interview with Trent Toone. "Because if you do, it will become your personal iron rod. "Why is it so important for you individually to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon?" he asked BYU students. In 2016, Brother Callister delivered a BYU devotional address titled, " The Book of Mormon: Man-Made or God-Given?" that helped pave the way for his book. "I think it's a real treasure for the Church to be able to see some of those evidences that help to sustain and maintain faith." "I think his book does such a great job of helping us see rational arguments for why the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on this earth and how it came from God," Brother Ashton said. "It is God's divine gift to every soul who wants to return to Him and become more like Him."Ī Case for the Book of Mormon gives readers a comprehensive overview of every critical claim ever made against the book, along with well-reasoned responses and arguments that invite the reader to "seriously consider and weigh the many evidences of the Book of Mormon's divine authenticity," Brother Callister wrote.īrother Brian Ashton, recently released as second counselor in the Sunday School general presidency, described the book as "excellent." "The Book of Mormon is a book for all seasons," Brother Callister wrote in chapter 1. For now the author of The Infinite Atonement, The Blueprint of Christ's Church, and other gospel-themed titles is discussing his latest volume, A Case for the Book of Mormon, which he hopes will bless and help strengthen testimonies of Latter-day Saints across the Church. ► You'll also like: Tad Callister Explains Why He Included Opposing Arguments in His Case for the Book of Mormonīut more on that project another time. You want one that holds your arrows firmly in place, protects you from your broadheads, stays quiet, doesn’t stick out awkwardly, and, of course, looks cool.
